A snowy start to the new year

We returned to school after our two-week Christmas holiday exactly two weeks ago today, but in fact we've had more days off school than days in class! Heavy snowfall meant our school was not open for several days. Our school is at the top of a steep hill and the snow made the roads impossible to drive on so most of the teachers couldn't get to work as very few of them actually live in the same town as the school. However, our pupils weren't complaining! This amount of snow is unusual here so they had great fun sledging, building igloos and making snowmen! There was some school work put on the website for those who wanted it , but most just enjoyed being out in all that white stuff! The teachers used the time to catch up on planning and marking as well as the inevitable paperwork, so everyone gained! But now the snow has melted and it's down to serious work again: tomorrow we have our annual Open Evening for pupils and parents hoping to get a place in our school next year. We have been putting up displays, planning lots of exciting activities and generally making all the classrooms look great for all our visitors. I wonder what the weather is like where you are: not snowy I suspect! Looking forward to hearing all about you and your school. Mrs Swaffield ( Head Teacher)
